How Professionals Use FreeTarget Advanced

Over time, we have received valuable feedback from many professional groups on how they have integrated FreeTarget Advanced into their training routines. What started as an experimental feature has quietly become one of the most adaptable tools in the LaserHIT App, used daily by law enforcement, SWAT units, detectives, and security agencies.

In this post, we share several real examples of how professionals apply FreeTarget Advanced in their own practice, demonstrating the precision and flexibility it brings to real-world training environments.

Department-Specific Use Cases

Patrol Officers

  • Practice 1 and 4 simulate real-world draw and engage scenarios from concealment or duty carry.

  • Vital zone accuracy is tracked in real time, with no need for one-time paper targets or live fire.

SWAT / Tactical Teams

  • Practice 3 supports confined-position training from behind obstacles or simulated cover.

  • Windage and elevation reporting allows for angle-specific refinement.

Investigators and Plainclothes officers

  • Use Practice 4 to sharpen appendix or jacket-draw techniques under stress.

  • FreeTarget lets you train discreetly, without revealing weapon position or using printed targets.

Corrections and Security Units

  • Use Practice 2 and 5 to maintain support-hand control, particularly when dominant hand is busy or restricted.

  • Practice inside confined zones such as control rooms or staff offices.

Before You Go

  • Use a taped circle or printed label to define the "vital zone" on any object

  • For lighting: consistent, soft overhead lighting works best

  • Combine drills across days to work both skill-building and scenario adaptability

  • Log your data using FreeTarget's end of Practice screenshots or manually in a training log
