500YD RANGE™: Your Positional Targets™ Let You Move

One Rifle. Five Distances. Your Position Comes First.

A rifle shot does not begin with ballistics. It begins with the shooter.

Before wind, bullet drop, or a firing solution become part of the problem, you still have to establish a stable position, acquire a consistent sight picture, control the trigger, and execute the shot.

Change from prone to sitting, kneeling, or standing, and your relationship with the rifle and target changes with it.

That is why LaserHIT 500yd Range™ uses four Positional Targets™. Each presents the same five recreated distances from 100 to 500 yards, configured for different shooting positions.

The idea is simple:

Your target should work with your shooting position, not force you out of it.

WHY SHOOTING POSITION MATTERS

U.S. Army and Marine Corps marksmanship references, CMP guidance, and experienced practical shooters approach firing positions differently, but a common principle emerges: stability depends on body structure, available support, and minimizing unnecessary muscular effort.

Establish the position, relax unnecessary tension, and the rifle naturally settles toward its line of aim. If you have to continually push, pull, raise, or lower it to stay on target, muscular effort becomes part of the aiming process.

That becomes especially important indoors.

Mount a target at comfortable standing eye level, then move to kneeling, sitting, or prone without moving it. Your rifle and scope move lower. The target does not.

That was the problem we wanted the Positional Target™ set to solve.

LaserHIT TARGET 1A PRONE: BUILD FROM THE GROUND

Prone provides a broad base of support, but there is no single position that fits every shooter, rifle, or support.

Army and Marine Corps marksmanship references, along with practical instructors such as William “Bart” Bartholomew, recognize multiple prone and supported variations.

Your rifle height can change with body geometry, rifle configuration, bipod, rear support, and other equipment.

Establish your prone position and support for stability. Then bring 500yd Range™ Target 1A to your line of aim.

The Positional Target™ adapts to your position. Your position does not have to adapt to the wall.

LaserHIT TARGET 1B SITTING: ONE NAME, SEVERAL POSITIONS

Sitting is not one fixed position. Professional references describe crossed-leg, crossed-ankle, and open-leg variations, while shooter size and flexibility add another variable.

Each can place the rifle at a different height.

Find the stable sitting position that works with your body and rifle. Then bring 500yd Range™ Target 1B to your line of aim.

The distances did not change. Your position did.

LaserHIT TARGET 1C KNEELING: STABILITY ON A SMALLER BASE

Kneeling reduces body support, making balance and rifle movement more noticeable. U.S. military references recognize both supported and unsupported kneeling variations.

External support, such as a tripod, barricade, sticks, pack, bag, or bench, can also become part of your shooting position and change the rifle height.

Establish your position and support first. Then bring 500yd Range™ Target 1C to your line of aim, or select another Positional Target™ that better matches your support height.

Change one thing. Rebuild the position. See where the target needs to be.

LaserHIT TARGET 1D STANDING: THE TARGET COMES UP WITH YOU

Standing provides less support than prone, sitting, or kneeling, making rifle stability more dependent on the shooter.

Establish your standing position first. Do not crouch or lower the rifle simply to reach an indoor target.

Then bring 500yd Range™ Target 1D to your line of aim.

You are practicing standing. The target should come up with you.

WHY USE YOUR OWN RIFLE AND SCOPE?

Your rifle and scope affect how you build each position, including balance, support height, eye relief, and sight picture.

At short indoor distances, many rifle scopes cannot focus clearly because of their minimum focus and parallax limitations. LaserHIT optical accessories address this limitation, allowing you to use your own rifle, optic, reticle, and normal shooting setup indoors.

500yd Range™ uses an 8-yard physical firing line and proportionally scaled targets to recreate the visual/angular target sizes of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards.

The physical distance remains 8 yards. What changes is the apparent target size through your scope.

ISOLATE THE SHOOTER. MEASURE THE RESULT.

500yd Range™ keeps wind and bullet drop out of the practice so you can focus on position, rifle control, and shot execution.

With the LaserHIT App and compatible laser cartridge, you can measure hit placement, Zone score, recreated distance, split and elapsed time, with visual and audible feedback.

Now compare. Shoot the same distance from different positions. Change the support. Reduce the available time. Move from 100 to 500 yards. Return later and try to reproduce the result.

500yd Range™ works with the LaserHIT App on both iOS and Android.

Measure what you can do with the rifle before adding ballistics to the challenge.

BEFORE YOU GO

We asked one simple question:

If the shooting position needs to change, why should the indoor target stay fixed?

That question led us to a new approach to indoor dry fire: one kit, four Positional Targets™, and a wide variety of shooting positions and supports.

Prone. Sitting. Kneeling. Supported. Standing. 100. 200. 300. 400. 500 yards.

Challenge the traditional fixed-target routine. Move your body. Change your position. Improve your readiness.
