Want to squeeze real, measurable improvement out of every shot?
LaserHIT Top Score turns every shot into usable data. Instead of simply counting hits or eyeballing groups, Top Score records each hit’s exact score (10, 10X, 9, 8, and so on), the impact vector showing distance and direction from the point of aim, total session time, and group statistics in real-world units such as inches, centimeters, MOA, or MIL. With that precision, training becomes a feedback process: set a goal, run a 10-shot string, review detailed shot data, and refine your fundamentals on the next run.
Why precision scoring matters
From a practical and psychological standpoint, detailed feedback accelerates learning. Top Score delivers immediate data showing which shots were centered, which were close calls, and where misses clustered. When shooters receive this kind of clear feedback, they build reliable connections between cause and effect. You start to see how grip, sight alignment, or trigger speed affect the point of impact. Each 10-shot string provides a complete snapshot of performance that supports measurable improvement instead of guesswork.
How to use Top Score across four proven 10-shot drills
Bullseye or precision pistol 10-shot strings
Replicate classic match scoring with 10 shots per string. Top Score registers the score and X-count of every hit and the direction of impact to show hold or alignment bias. Tracking the average and total scores helps identify consistency across sessions.

10-10-10 speed and accuracy drill
Shoot 10 rounds at 10 yards in 10 seconds. The Top Score practice measures total session time rather than split times for each shot, so your goal is to complete all 10 shots within the chosen time limit while maintaining precision. Set a 10-second total time and push yourself to balance speed with control and accuracy.
When using scaled targets, this drill is easy to set up in limited indoor space. A firing line of 2 to 5 yards accurately recreates the 10-yard scenario thanks to LaserHIT’s automatic scaling and range simulation. Directional impact feedback helps identify repeating errors, such as low-left or high-right impacts caused by grip tension or trigger press during fast strings.

Benchrest-style 10-shot score practice
For precision rifle work, use Top Score’s sub-quarter-MOA resolution to simulate a 100-10X score card indoors. Review the group diameter and centroid to study fine differences in hold or trigger technique. Compare averages between strings to evaluate consistency.

Precision hold and consistency drill (inspired by ISSF practice)
This drill borrows its logic from ISSF-style precision shooting but adapts it to the Top Score environment. Each 10-shot session uses standard integer scoring, but at the end of the string the app reports an average score with decimal precision. That average reflects the overall accuracy of the group and shows even small drifts in aim or control.
The goal is to tighten your average toward a perfect 10.0. Run several 10-shot strings under identical conditions, recording the average score and group size each time. A gradual rise in the average score demonstrates measurable improvement in consistency and center hold. Scaled targets make it easy to practice indoors at 2 to 5 yards while maintaining the correct geometry for longer ranges.

Practical setup and interpretation
Each string records per-shot score (X-value included), shot direction, group size in selected measurement units, and total elapsed time. At the end of each session, the app temporarily saves the results, which can then be stored to your local device through the Photos folder before leaving the practice.
Make one change at a time, such as adjusting grip, par time, or stance, and observe the effect on the next 10-shot string. Keep training short and repeatable, then compare session averages to reveal long-term trends and true progress.
Targets, range scaling, and accuracy
Top Score works only with two designated LaserHIT targets: the Olympic 25M and the B27 silhouette. The app automatically recognizes the target shape and scale, adjusting the camera zoom to fit the target perfectly on the screen. With scaled targets and distances between 3 and 100 yards, the app recreates realistic range behavior indoors. It can register up to 10 hits per second with sub-quarter-MOA precision.
Cartridge setup and calibration
LaserHIT Top Score works with both LaserHIT cartridges and compatible third-party laser cartridges. Although many cartridges look similar, they differ internally in their electronics and optical design. The app allows cartridge type selection in the main menu, automatically adjusting detection sensitivity to avoid double, ghost, or missed shots. Select the Cartridge Type > Other on the app's Main Menu that matches your device for best results. Some generic cartridges or laser devices may work only for slower fire.
Before you go
Top Score includes an interactive setup, automatic target recognition, scaled target support, auto-zoom and auto-ranging up to 100 yards, visible score and direction results, total and average score calculation, group measurement in real units, total time tracking, remote restart, customizable voice reports, and screen sharing.
All of these features serve one goal: to know your numbers. Top Score provides hard data on your shooting fundamentals such as target acquisition, sight alignment, sight picture, breath and hold control, trigger control, and follow-through. Instead of guessing at improvement, you can see it, measure it, and build it shot by shot.
