Dueling Is Waiting — Just Add Your HD Cartridge

Black Steel Advanced includes a simple but powerful way to bring the spirit of the duel back into modern training. With just one phone, two targets, and a few feet of space, you can recreate high-pressure, head-to-head challenges that reward speed, accuracy, and composure.

There is more than one way to run a duel, and we built flexibility into each option.

Option 1: Classic Quick Draw Duel

This is the most direct way to test who draws faster and hits cleaner.

Setup

  • Two identical B3 targets at the same scale (example: 1:4)

  • Reload mark between the two targets

  • One phone set to Laserhit: Black Steel Advanced

  • Each shooter aims at their own target

  • Start at the same time after the Commence Firing beep

  • One shot each

Settings

  • Firing Distance: 4 yards

  • On-Screen Results: Target index, Hit zone, Elapsed time

  • Virtual Spotter: Off

  • Session Results: Total time, range

Challenge Tip: Turn on Zone scoring to reward precision. A faster hit in the wrong zone may lose to a slower A-zone impact.

Option 2: Speed and Accuracy Sprint

For this variation, you and your opponent will test shot control under time pressure. Ten seconds, five shots each, one winner.

Setup

  • Two sets of multi-target layouts (11x8.5 LaserHIT with 5 targets work well)

  • One phone captures both shooters

  • Each shooter performs five shots on their side of the target area after the start beep

Settings

  • Firing Distance: 4 or 5 yards

  • Units: Off

  • On-Screen Results: Target index, Hits on target, Hit zone, Split time

  • Virtual Spotter: Off

  • Session Results: Optional

  • Common Settings: 10 shots, 10-second limit

Challenge Tip: You are not restricted to how LaserHIT targets are placed. Cut out scaled B3 silhouettes and place them in circles, squares, triangles, or other layouts within the target zone. Just make sure the Reload mark stays visible and clear of the red target frame.

Option 3: Grouping Duel

This version skips speed and rewards control. Both shooters fire three rounds within ten seconds. The tightest group wins.

Setup

  • Two single B3 targets in the same scale (example: 1:8)

  • Place side by side, each shooter takes one

  • Each shooter fires three shots within the time limit

Settings

  • Firing Distance: 4 yards

  • Units: Inch

  • On-Screen Results: Hit zone, Group, Split time

  • Common Settings: 6 shots, 10-second limit

Challenge Tip: For even more challenge, reduce the hit hole size in Common Settings to force tighter groupings.

From Dueling to Training

These may look like fun head-to-head games, but they are powerful training tools in disguise. Every duel builds critical skills:

  • Fast and consistent draw from ready or holstered positions

  • Visual alignment under pressure

  • Controlled trigger pull and zone placement

  • The ability to recover from a miss and refocus mid-drill

Whether you're using a single shot for fast-draw accuracy or running timed strings for pressure control, dueling drills keep you focused, alert, and improving.

Before You Go

Most users never expected that dueling drills could work in a dry-fire app. But with LaserHIT’s Black Steel Advanced and the HD laser cartridge, it is not only possible- it is accurate and repeatable.

The key lies in the system’s ability to register up to 10 laser hits per second. That level of precision, combined with real-time zone tracking and instant shot timing, makes true head-to-head drills a reality. No guesswork, no lag, no external gear needed.

Now, whether you are working on speed draws, split-shot accuracy, or group control under pressure, you can do it side by side with your partner.
