What is KYL?
The "Know Your Limits," or simply KYL, challenge started in the 1970s as a 50-yard rimfire precision shooting competition where shooters engage a sequence of progressively smaller targets.
Today, it has expanded to 500 yards and beyond, becoming one of the most popular challenges among precision rifle shooters.
What is LaserHIT KYL 500YD™?
LASERHIT KYL 500yd™ is a dry-fire version of the 500-yard KYL Challenge, where shooters engage six steel plates ranging from 12 inches down to 2 inches in under two minutes.
By scaling down both the firing distance and the target sizes, we recreate the same shooting experience within an 8-yard indoor space, including environmental conditions and ballistics.

The kit includes a focus adapter so you can use your scope at extreme close range. The exact distance from your rifle to the target should be 8 yards (25 feet) to keep your sight picture sharp and parallax-free. You will also need a few extra yards behind the rifle to sit or lie down comfortably. Overall, an open space of 10+ yards is ideal.

For the best performance, you should use a LASERHIT Long Range or HD cartridge. Other cartridges may or may not work. Download the LASERHIT app, open the KYL500 drill, and print the targets to try it yourself.

The KYL 500 Challenge is currently available only on iPhone and iPad. Android support is planned for a future release. In the meantime, you can use an iPad or an older iPhone (iPhone 8 or newer) if you have one. You only need the device itself; cellular service is not required.

No. The LaserHIT app works offline. An internet connection is only required to download the app, install updates and import ballistic data.
